Salvation is the extrication of the soul from the cycle of life and death, and it's acceptance into the Kingdom of God.
The only relatively-immortal component of a human being is his soul (internal spiritual body that re-incarnates) and the elected souls, which passed through all their predestined lives and reached the top of their development, are allowed to enter the Kingdom of God (if they aren't caught by Hell).
These elected souls gradually cumulate – they're coming from all the nooks of the universe. It obstructs the dark, demoniacal worlds, to which these souls are a danger, since when they all will gather in the Kingdom of God and ideal way of their existence will take place, the God's Judgment - and the punishment of demoniacal worlds - will come to pass. From this reason, demons and their human servants exert on the capturing of elected souls to postpone this event as much as possible. Later Hell will exchange these stolen souls for the deferment of the God's punishment. The more elected souls will Hell capture, the longer it will stay unpunished.
Accordingly to the Revelation of St. John, there are two main kinds of people who are supposed to be saved:
1. The elected, who followed the Lamb and ended like him – were sacrificed.
2. Those who came out of great tribulation – the most intensely suffering. Of course, not all the most intensely suffering will be saved, but those of them with a piece of God's Good and God's Wisdom in them to complete the condition of energetic compatibility with the Kingdom of God. It is necessary to add, that excessive suffering calls out negative emotions and a turning-bitter, but it all is counted in and the most intensely suffering, more or less, won't be condemned for it.
Further we can consider the Salvation in some people of a life-long moral code in the spirit of a positive religion, who belonged among the best out of “ordinary believers” and who had also experienced God's feelings – a connection to the positive part of the God's Might.
As much for the Revelation of St. John, the redeemed from the Earth and a great multitude of those who came out of great tribulation. However, it is possible, that only the elected and those who've called into the Sanctuary of God will be saved, if it isn't one and the same, about which I have some doubts. Another theory says, that the prophecy of the suffering and their Salvation is but a cheat to give the people who live poorly and suffer much some false hope and a reason to carry their difficult Destiny further on.
One way or another, even if only the elected were saved and their virginity (or at least inability of a normally-experienced sexual intercourse) and modified constitution were the only way how to obtain energetic compatibility with the Kingdom of God, the most intensely suffering would at least be given better lives for their grieving souls.

I wanna add, that during the process of the Salvation, a golden blaze enters the soul and it fully regenerates. What was bad in man will disappear, and the good and wise will remain.
